Blogging, Dogging, and Doodles

  • Blogging: Tonight I spent several hours trying to figure out how to enter the “Blog” world.  I use to think I never would- but I would hate for someone else to claim a really good identity.  I saved one a long time ago and dropped it so if you want go check it out on Blogger.com type in artworks1111.
  • Dogging: After that three mile hike when my car broke down earlier this month– and I walked three miles in the rain-my poor foot has never recovered.  I went to my podiatrist today to have him take a look. Yep, I’ve got a bone spur in my heal… but worse, apparently the lady in the room next to mine was having a heart attack.  When the doctor finally came in to see me, he said- he did what he could- getting help- but he’s not a cardiologist.
  • Doodles: Some doodles are simple and some are really painstaking.  I am on my last landscape- of a series-a simple sunrise scene.  In my mind- it was simple and exactly what I wanted.  Fourteen shades of blue and yellow later- I’m calling up my pal Nita Leland and ask her advice on color transitioning.  It needs work and I’m
at this point of no return.  Better to return to wild and crazy faces, elephants eating peas and cheese, my flying women, and stories that play out in my mind…. and then I create…quilts.  Now that’s a safe bet!

Spring Cleaning and Quilting IN

Here is an idea.  Instead of spring cleaning the regular way- I’m spring cleaning with bags of fabric scraps.  Yes, you heard me. I’ve got dozens of zip bags with odds and ends that work well in making LANDSCAPE quilts.  Bits of greens and blues…. all combine to make for a very interesting quilt.

The latest quilt idea came to me in a dream.  I was looking at travel destinations  to take in while I quilt to the beautiful scenery.  It turns out I have this cabin in my mind that is gorgeous off-set with an even more beautiful misty morning.

I sure hope my “dreamt-up” quilt does mother nature  proud.

Snowy Days

Snow days are my sew days.  I’m working on a quilt for my friend who is starting her Personal Balance company. http://johnraymondonline.com/personalbalance/ She is an OT and a massage therapist.  Her soothing ways are wonderful.
She was at my house the other night giving a demonstration to several friends who were enjoying my anti-football supper bowl. A.K.A. A spaghetti dinner.

Missing my dog Misty as she loved snowy days.

Hope

Today, as in the last few days, people have been focused on what they can do to help those living in Haiti.  Some are sending money and others are sending clothing and basic supplies.

I have a comment. While you are making plans for this… remember there are people who are your neighbors who are also hurting.  Remember there are many local people who need help but shy away from a handout.  Job losses through out our country have created the “new poor”. Many are one pay check away from real trouble and also need your assistance.
